Religion and Animal Cruelty

I my opinion one of the main reasons that animal cruelty is still rife in today's modern society is because of religion. The main religions of today's modern world all put man above animals by proclaiming that Beasts/Animals do not have souls. Whether this is to justify animal sacrifice or the consumption of meat or enslaving animals to do mans bidding.

Meditation.
Even for a small amount of time can do the soul good.
Stop too appreciate the finer things in life as often as possible.
Listen to some classical music on a rainy night.
Stare at a camp fire and make peace with the earth.
Lay in the sun and recollect your thoughts.
Roll the windows down on the highway and take off your sunglasses.
Sit and draw in your mind with your eyes closed.

Book Review- Green Psychology by Metzner

Green Psychology by Metzner is another book that speaks about our relationship with the earth and how that affects how we treat the earth. He makes very good points on how even one who is fairly connected to the natural environment can improve their relationship. Its another I recommend. I just finished the book Microcosmos by Margulis and Sagan. It was required for a class I was taking and I was initially very intimidated with the material as some of the scientific concepts arebeyond what I know about.
