"In the end, the shadow is but a passing thing...." from J.R.R. Tolkien
The Shadow Dancer image: This image is on a card I bought in a London, Hempstead Heath, gallery nearly 20 years ago. It names Tom Merrifield as the photographer. It was a photograph of an extraordinary sculpture that was there in the gallery that day. This shadow dancer woman stilled me to my core.

As much as I have written about war and peace over the years, I have never heard of this one... The story speaks for itself... wonder if it also has to do with the huge percentage of soldiers families who are so poor they are on food stamps?
WASHINGTON - Children of U.S. military troops sought outpatient mental health care 2 million times last year - double the number at the start of the Iraq war.
There was also an alarming spike in the number of military kids… Continue
I wrote this poem when Bush was about to invade Iran. I majored in Military Intelligence, and was doing some consulting at the time with... well, that's confidential... but trust me, they were close... I am putting it up here now because poem seems all the more relevant with the Iranian protests in full swing.

The song you are hearing, (to hear this song, just click here and my profile page will open- Quest For Peace will begin playing automatically), Quest For Peace, was composed and played by my mother, Marlane T. This song tells a story. Listen...and you will hear it.

embraced by pain of mourning,
and i'm not quite sure

enslaved by their government,
lost,
over 3,300 villages,
burnt to the ground,
the child soldiers, 70,000,
recruited bullied in by age 9,
no way to be,
no way to be,
Burma you've lost your charm,
why… Continue
