grampa and grama's spirits

Posted on February 16, 2009 at 9:20am 0 Comments

Grampa passed away on Valentines day (just this last Saturday). What gives me peace is that he got to spend Valentines Day with his wife, in heaven. As I was cleaning his livingroom yesterday for the many visitors to come, I found a Valentines Day card to Grampa from Grama. It made me smile, and I think my Grama was telling me that he was there with her.

United Way

I used to give ten dollars per payperiod to the United Way when I was working at the hospital. I know, it's only ten dollars, but that's a lot to me. My current employer does no such thing, and that saddens me. I can't talk to him, he treats me like a number, not a person. I wish there were a way for me to approach him with this idea. He's all about the non-profit vounteering, and offers us PTO days to volunteer. That's a good idea, too, but I want more options...

Sure I could have bought a pair of shoes

But I already have a bunch, and there are children in West Papua that don't even get a decent education.
So I took my daughter to the store today and spent my shoe money on school supplies for three little girls in West Papua. Next week we will send them, and those little girls will have some supplies that they desperately need for school.
One step at a time....
