Rules are created and enforced by people who seek power and want to control others. When people that seek power come in contact with each other they create friction. If this friction is not resolved it builds into the fire of war.

So as long a society is built on the foundations of rules those rules will acted as an inhibitor of peace.

I find this entry only partially true. A lot of 'rules,' are acceptable laws that are needed for a society to function -- like murderers, rapists, thieves. Other laws are absurd, and I, too, refuse to follow some (weed, for instance). The law is a set of rules that we need, thou some of them are insane. I think if you were more specific, this entry would be great. You could say that the patriachial laws are the problem... but we need some laws to function as a society....

I don't have the answers but I wanted to get people to think and perhaps then we can create a society with what use to be called common sense.

"Where love rules there is no will for power" If we were all good souls then we would have no need for laws as we would all know the different between right and wrong. The Law is an ass, and lawyers and solicitors are no more than ambulance chasers from my experience.

clclay... I do like your commitment to love, but my ideas on man are heavily influenced by EO WILSON, the sociobiologist, who studied apes and found they had a lot of the same behavior as humans, though they describe them with a few grunts, rather than libraries. There is a darkness in people that can be conjured by the right rhetoric or cause. We have the ability to love and hate. Laws keep both at bay. The problem with the system of law we have is that it is slanted toward the wealthy, instead of the vast majority of people. Interestingly, when BONOBO apes, our closest genetic relative, come across a situation that would cause violence in other apes, like coming up on a dead deer, the FEMALE leader (they are entirely matriarchal), instigates an orgy, and afterwards the apes just share.

I am not a reader, so I'm sorry I do not know EO WILSON. Darwin got a lot right, but I don't believe that we evolved from apes. If you spend time with any animal you can see that they have the same emotions as us, not just apes. I have have the pleasure of being around horses and dogs all my live and they have family just as we do, it's just that humans interfere with their own natural ways and natural laws.

I believe in a matriarchal society.

You have hit on a perfect crime prevention idea, instead of policemen we should have prostitutes waiting on street corners, and the criminals would be side tracked and forget to commit the crime! :)
