Profile Information:

About Me/Us:
I like photography, poetry, history, learning, all kinds of creativity. I always try to be a friend to those who feel unwanted. There are many of them in our society. I am inspired by those who bring hope into the world. I can often be found wandering the streets of Philly or New York, but I'm not lost. I'm searching. Searching for a photo to take, inspiration for a poem, or maybe for a history article to write, or maybe just to find a stranger who I can bring a smile to. I love to explore many cultures. Maybe that's because I come from a very international family. Or maybe I'm just curious. I hope that, in the end, my life will have made some good impact on the world, and that I might be able to make someone elses life a little better durring my time here on this twirling ball we call earth as it hurdles through the cosmos.

    No problem :). Thankfully the tornados didnt come my way. So are you vegetarian/vegan? I saw that you are a member of the vegan recipe group. I have never met a guy that was vegetarian.Thats ery respectable if you are! Hope you are having a nice weekend. Peace
  • michael philip jones

    Pleased to accept your request!
  • Jasmine Hewlett

    Major kudos for being vegetarian, and your reasoning. It takes alot for most people to give up their "comforts" or something they grew up knowing, such as eating meat, especially in a society where guys are expected to eat steaks & ribs and be "manly". What branch were you a soldier in? My brother is in the Marine Corp, has been the past 3 years. And btw never feel like you started off on the wrong foot, everything is a learning experience. I dont believe in chance or regrets, I believe in life :). I hope you have a wonderful week, peace! Thank you for your reply to my questions. I, too feel that the different cultures only enhance my understanding of the divine and do not offer conflicting ideas.

    Have you ever noticed that when you get to something important, you'll get the same idea repeated from several sources? What your math teacher said about questioning the answers really hit me! I have just started reading a book about Coleman McCarthy called "I'd rather teach Peace". His first chapter is titled "Don't ask questions, Question the answers". He was a columnist for The Washington Post for 28yrs and now directs a nonprofit organization that helps schools establish Peace Studies programs. I expect to learn a lot from him!

    I'll look forward to more of your blogs and continuing our conversation. May you be blessed and guided in your work!

    Tone Of Voice
    by Anonymous

    It's not so much what you say,
    as the manner in which you say it;
    It's not so much the language you use, as the tone in which you convey it.

    "Come here", I sharply said,
    And the child cowered and wept.
    "Come here", I said he looked and smiled,
    And straight to my lap he crept.

    Words may be mild and fair,
    But the tone may pierce like a dart;
    Words may be soft as the summer air,
    But the tone may break my heart;

    For words come from the mind
    Grow by study and art,
    But tone leaps from the inner self,
    Revealing the state of heart.

    Whether you know it or not,
    Whether you mean or care,
    Gentleness, kindness, love and hate,
    Envy, anger are there.

    Then, would you quarrels avoid
    and peace and love rejoice?
    Keep anger not only out of your words,
    Keep it out of your voice.

    Hi David, thank you for connecting. 9/11 brought a new awareness and opportunity to my life and has since lifted my spiritual veil. My co-authored upcoming book, ''Pursuing Your Destiny,'' tells of my experience on 9/11 and the journey thereafter.
