Tone Of Voice
by Anonymous

It's not so much what you say,
as the manner in which you say it;
It's not so much the language you use, as the tone in which you convey it.

"Come here", I sharply said,
And the child cowered and wept.
"Come here", I said he looked and smiled,
And straight to my lap he crept.

Words may be mild and fair,
But the tone may pierce like a dart;
Words may be soft as the summer air,
But the tone may break my heart;

For words come from the mind
Grow by study and art,
But tone leaps from the inner self,
Revealing the state of heart.

Whether you know it or not,
Whether you mean or care,
Gentleness, kindness, love and hate,
Envy, anger are there.

Then, would you quarrels avoid
and peace and love rejoice?
Keep anger not only out of your words,
Keep it out of your voice.

I would like us all to live in peace, and care about each other.
'Where love rules there is no will for power'

    Hiya!
Thanks for the comments and the Beatles link. :)

Our family already stopped using the microwave a few years ago, and we also use a mineral rich (all 72) grey colored salt. We have a reverse osmosis system installed in our house which is great for cleaning the water, but it ends up acidic. Adding the salt to it fixes that up nicely though. :)

    Dear Friend,
Thanks so much for the second hug! (I'm greedy.)
And for the lovely hug video. I will pass it on.
Just SEEING all those hugs on screen made me feel better.
    Hugs are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO healing!
    I'm going to make myself a T-shirt:
    "Free hugs on request"
    Here's one back at you:

    Dear clclay,
You wrote: "Glad we are friends xxx"
So am I, so am I! xxx
I was impressed by your video on Nicola Tesla.
Edison used to be a hero of mine. Now, I'm not so sure...

Since you are a hug collector (and giver), here's another one for you (Hobbes remains one of my heroes):

  • Cheryll Maze

Thanks for the post! Have a great day!

    Dear Sue,
Some call it the Year Of The Sheep
Some call it the Year Of The Goat
    A sheep follows the flock,
    Is stupid,
    Is boring.
A goat works out how to get over - or around - that wall and into the garden with the tasty vegetables,
    Is intelligent,
    Is exciting.

You be a sheep if you want to (but having read your messages, I doubt it)... I'll be a goat!

    And here's one for you:

    Love,
    Jimmy

    My Dear Friend!
I have just signed up to your group "Peace For Women"
I think that this is a GREAT idea!
And - have you noticed? - you are at present one of the "featured members" on the site's homepage. So you should soon be getting extra attention. Great advert potential for the group.
We are only 3 so far, but we will grow and grow and grow!
p.s. I see that men are also welcome. Let's hope that they curb their tendency to take over the whole show...

And here's something else for you, you arch-hugger

“Touching and physical contact is very dangerous territory,” said Noreen Hajinlian, the principal of George G. White School, a junior high school in Hillsdale, N.J., who banned hugging two years ago. “It was needless hugging — they are in the hallways before they go to class. It wasn’t a greeting. It was happening all day.”

Sounds like she's in bad need of a hug herself!

Finally, here's a HUUUUUUUUUUUUG for you,
    Emily

Thanks for your comment. Yes, since women are without question the superior gender in almost all ways that relate to peace, love, and the betterment of the world, I am pleased and proud to have joined this group. As far as morphing, I am slowly finding my true identity. My new screen name means "peace" in Hawaiian.

Thank you for the welcome. I used to work on the peace and pipedreams show, as Johnny Pain and Moonbong haze and other characters.... So I should feel at home here. I have been writing on the web for quite awhile, mostly fiction, essay's, poetry. I also wrote three of my books on line, which was interesting. I have a lot of radical peace poetry on my site, though I have to say, for the record, as a military intelligence major, I believe in justice before peace. still, I want that justice to get the peace.

    Dear Sue,
    A musical hug for you:
  • john scott ridgway

I studied under a lesbian separatist, who was a Wittgenstein scholar, and know a lot about feminist theory. I agree with you about women, I certainly love them more than men. I studied books like, LIES MY FATHER TOLD ME, and others that point toward the patriarchal nature of language usage. In my work, M., my girlfriend, is always the sane one, and I am out there. Unfortunately, like people everywhere, on lots of issues, women can be as bad as men, though statistically they are less prone to murder, rape, etc... Men need to be more enlightened., My mother was the president of a powerful union -- The URW, when I was a kid, so I saw her as a strong warrior, but at the same time, she also let me meet, march with, and have books about, Ceaser Chavez. The fight for equality is something everyone could benefit from. Women forget sometimes that the predatory males out there are as repugnant to good men as they are to women.

Peace is the best, however, I grew up in a very rough neighborhood with two younger brothers, who I had to fight to protect from bullying... this was so bad that I did not want them to go out with me, because the responsiblity was too much for a ten year old kid. To this day, after working out for twenty years, and boxing, I know how to beat the hell our of just about anybody. I would never do this unless attacked -- words alone are not enough to get me to hit someone, and I do not lose my temper to the degree I am get violoent, but when me or mine are threatened.... I come from a very old family, the ridgways, which go back to around 300 as the first kings of england, and a lot of other shit... they were all warriors, and sometimes they fought for good things, and other times they went on vicious crusades. Mostly, thank God, they were good, peaceful men,,, though, they were also the first protestants to enter Ireland, which means we started that vicious war that continues to this day. What I am getting at is that there is a time for violence, but most people, and governments, do not know when this is. They look at the market and oil before they send in troops to stop the genocide in Duran. See, sometimes predators understand nothing else... and then, you want a guy like me around. I fight for the right side, believe me...

Thank you for the comment... made me think.... If you knew my background, you would see I am a lot more active than you know. I am read by soldiers all over the world, and they want peace, too. I was contacted by Obama and Clinton during their campaigns, because a lot of people follow what I do. Few writers with my education can afford to give their words away on the web. I have no such fear. I know a lot of people in tv and they know that I am merely flattered when I inspire something (some would call this stealing... american dad, since I also write about the cia and military intelligence, has used my blog for a couple shows). I not telling you this to try to impress you... I am just saying, a writer sometimes can get more done writing than they can marching.

I go to operation push on saturdays, and take on tough issues in my hometown... I have even been bugged and drugged for my activities. If I did not have friends in the FBI, I would be fucked. I am a true revolutionary, and if you read my violent stories about a serial killer who slaughters neo-cons (comedically, and without graphic descriptions... The guy who does greg the bunny, Dan, says of my work "{this is terrifying, in a very funny way), and my poetry, you will see that I am an activist.

I worked for years in politics, until Governor Celeste in Ohio, who I worked for, was told, two days before a vote for his re-election, that the the staff of a home for the mentally disabled were taking the poor clients home and making porno movies.... the goveror wanted to sit on the story until after the election. We went to the Republican he was running with and broke the story, closing the places that day.

Since then, I basically went to school for fifteen years and consider the world a lost cause, in a way.... I learned about the greenhouse effect twenty years ago, and was told by the prof. that it had started, and it was going to destroy the earth. I have watched his lecture becoming true ever since. Working for Obama inspired me again, but he can't do much without a lot of popular support. I see him backing down on a lot of shit already... too bad.

Have a wonderous, peaceful day... I will send you some of my peace poetry if you would like?

Dearest new friend clclay!!! I'm so, so sorry that I'm doing everything backward!!! Thank you for the delightful welcome greetings and hugs and beautiful pics. I goofed up and clicked onto peacenut's message while I was scrolling through comments.

I'm happy to have found mypeace.tv on twitter (I'm the new kid there, too) so I see now what all the hubub around social media is about. I'm ready to get back into the world . . . even if it is only in pixels.

Remember the song "Grease is the word" from the musical? Well, the song that runs through my head much of the time is "Peace is the word" to that tune. I make up different words all the time for the next lines . . . when I'm aware the song's there at all.

Thanks, again. Looking forward to future work together.

    Love, peace and clarity ,

    Veralynne
