I am a novelist, oil painter, and political leftist... I went to college for almost fifteen years preparing myself to be a writer who has something to say. I studied philosophy, military intelligence, literature, history.... and assorted stuff like Cults (anthropology) and art. I have three books out -- google my name John Scott Ridgway --, did a radio show, Peace and Pipedreams that was a big hit with radicals and pot smokers.
Relationship Status:
Single
Movies
True Stories by the Talking Heads, Princess Bride, Pulp Fiction, Wings of Desire... I like complex movies that deal with political issues, whether they be comedy or drama. I also like very dum shit sometimes. I guess if a movie is good... no matter what it is about, I like it.,
Television
I still mourn the loss of Angel, and hope the hell they make a movie. Buffy, too. Criminal Intent, with the the greatest actor of my generation, Donofrio... I also watch the office, 30 rock, south park, -- my buddies, Family Guy, American Dad.... Squid billies is my current cartoon favorite.
Music
U2, the killers, Indigo Girls, Mellisa Etheridge, Foo Fighters... and a lot of others... especially the acts that wrote songs about my campaign and me... like the killers Space Man, which tells a story about what I went through.
Books
Love in the time of Cholera, Mark Twain's On Man and Beast, anything by Vonnegut and Joseph Halderman... as a literature major, I love way too many books to list., Don Dellilo books are also a major love (I have read them all, even the one about math) and White Noise is my favorite.. laugh out loud wonderous...
Heroes
Rev. Jessie Jackson, Ceaser Chavez, Malcom X, Che Guevera, Dr. Daniel Stern, Pynchon, Jesus Christ, Matthew Ridgway, Abe Lincoln, Ann Frank, Brittany Spears
Welcome to MyPeace.tv
Our numbers are growing every day.
But numbers aren’t all that’s important.
You might join up and think: “Well, now I’ve done enough for Peace…”
Or you might join up because you want to be informed, be given ideas and inspiration.
But, you know, there is no information unless there’s somebody informing.
There are no ideas unless somebody thinks them.
There is no inspiration unless somebody (or something) inspires.
So I’d like to ask you, please, to be an ACTIVE member of MyPeace.tv
To inform, to think (and SHARE your thoughts)… and to inspire.
This website would be NOTHING without the People who make it up.
So, what can YOU do, somebody who “doesn’t know the ropes”, the “new kid on the blog”???
Look around, read blogs and discussions and don’t be afraid of adding your own voice.
Your voice is important to us.
Go to the “Groups” page (hold your cursor for a moment over “People” in the line-up at the top of the page, until the list of 4 sub-options appears, then click on “Groups”) find one or more that appeal to you, look at their mini-descriptions, click on the names (or the pictures) of the ones that interest you and read their full group description there (window shopping is free…)
And then JOIN the ones that really appeal to you. (Join by clicking on the “Join [group’s name]” option at the bottom of the page, under the comments.)
You may join as many or as few groups as you wish… but there’s no point in being a “group collector” like a stamp collector, leaving your groups in some cyber drawer that is rarely – if ever – opened.
I – personally – would like to invite you to join two groups that are especially important to me: ♥ ♥ ♥ PEACE ♥ for ♥ Women ♥ ♥ ♥ (a group about women’s issues within the Peace Movement, but which is not limited to women members)
and – in case you understand Spanish – Sencillamente, Paz (a group for exchange of ideas, mutual support, whatever, in Spanish)
Whatever you decide, feel welcome...
Because you ARE!
Thank you for joining the Peace for Women group, there a three of us running it, my two co Administrators are doing a brilliant job.
You have had a very interesting life and must have a lot to tell, I would very much like you to send me some of your poems.
Have you ever visited Project Camelot or Project Avalon, they are two great sites run by Kerry and Bill with lots of information and wonderful interviews.
Brian O'Leary is a wonderful man too. You will see for yourself if you go there.
I am looking forward to seeing/reading your postings on the Women for Peace group.
