Recommendations of books that CAN’T be read in their entirety on the Web. This means books that have already been published in paper form. These should be recommended briefly – with a short synopsis and an image of the jacket cover if possible (these can usually be found on Internet; see tips on main group page) in each comment. Active links to further information on the Web that you found useful (don’t waste our time with links to lame descriptions) would be appreciated, as would details of publishers.

This is a comic book, but NOT one for children. It deals with the cynical instructions booklet "Protect And Survive", issued by the British Gov't in 1980, on how to survive a nuclear attack, and the misadventures of Hilda and Jim Bloggs, who try to follow the instructions to the letter. The results are a mixture of absurd comedy, heartbreaking gullibility, and bleak disaster. Very moving... it moved me to laughter, tears, and anger at the cold-hearted cynicism of the Powers-That-Be.
