He chooses to live and is then visited by an amazing monarch butterfly. He sees this as a message from God and Carin who once told him how she always wished she was a caterpillar that could someday transform itself and fly away. Seeing this reminds me of how symbolic it is that the caterpillar's struggle is why we are able to appreciate the beauty and freedom represented by the butterfly. Likewise, all the struggle we experience allows us to define and appreciate overcoming, transforming and evolving beyond that struggle. Although it appears that Robin killed himself, I believe he would want those dealing with depression to make the same choice Patch Adams did here; to keep living, to be open to the magnificence of life, to know we are forever connected to our loved ones, and to understand that there is a great, sacred, evolutionary purpose to it all.<br /> <br /> Thank you, Robin, for all the warm, kind, loving, and joyous energy you brought into this world.
