200 laughter clubs have been set up throughout the world where people are taught to see the funny side of life - without any joke-telling.
Angela, a photographer with the Echo, is the first person in the North East to achieve a special qualification meaning she could set up the first laughter club in the region.
She'll be using techniques learned on a course to get people chuckling.
Angela said: "Laughter is good for health and has many positive effects on the body.
