I saw this story when it first aired and was very touched by it as well. I thought to myself, just a matter of time before he gets work and becomes successful than he will be on Oprah in a few months sharing his story. This morning, I turn on the "Today" show and see that there has been some kind of domestic dispute he was involved in, where the police were called. Apparently, this was after he was filming a Dr.Phil episode where they reunited him with his family members and discussed very painful and difficult issues.
I was so SHOCKED and APPALLED, but sadly not surprised that harpo / dr.phil would stoop SO LOW and completely TAKE ADVANTAGE and EXPLOIT this naive man, who was just on the streets barely a couple weeks ago! I'm sure he probably doesn't have a publicist or someone advising him on what shows to do and what not..but this was really distasteful and they caused this man to slip when he was finally achieving his dreams and probably on the highest of highs (& best b/c he was sober and came from his natural talent).
Were they REALLY trying to HELP him? Or just snag those high ratings and headlines?! ....They should know better! Do they realize it could make him relapse and fall off the deep end with this kind of thing? It's a lot for him to handle as it is. SHAME ON THEM......ONCE AGAIN!
"Why should there be hunger and deprivation in any land, in any city, at any table, when man has the resources and the scientific know-how to provide all mankind with the basic necessities of life?"
