"Come Join the Circle: LessonSongs for Peacemaking" is a CD of 14 original songs I wrote for use with school age children while working as a peace educator. This video montage incorporates clips from over a number of years, including footage of the making of the CD with students from Cincinnati Public Schools in David Archer's Last Riff Studio. You'll also see clips from various local summer Peace Camps, where I led activities and shared songs as artist in residence. The title song, "Come Join the Circle," takes its melody from a famous spiritual, "Wade in the Water." It happened accidentally one day in a classroom, that I began calling children back to the circle by singing the directions, to that melody. With the addition of a counter melody explaining why we sit in a circle to discuss things, this became a theme song for my programs with children. The CD is now in its 7th edition, and is teaching peacemaking concepts and skills to children in homes and classrooms across the country.
