The annual Beyond War Award was established in 1983 to honor the great efforts of humankind as it moves to build a world beyond war. This archival 7-minute video reviews the first five years of honorees. In the mid-1980s, the Beyond War Movement had over 24,000 active members in twenty-three states and internationally understanding that war had become obsolete and conflicts must be resolved without violence. Volunteer citizen-educators hosted thousands of "Interest Evenings" and hundreds of "Orientation Meetings" in living rooms and classrooms across the United States, and in Canada and Germany. The Jewish-Palestinian Living Room Dialogue of the 21st century is rooted in Beyond War.
