Television

Pretty much hate TV. It's such a filthy business, dealing mostly with deception, in advertizing, non-objective news, promotion by selective omissions. When weighing the entertainment value against these it doesn't come our very positively.

Music

What's the difference between recorded music and live music?
To contemplate the question consider the difference between an original painting and a picture of a painting. Are there qualitative differences?

Regrettably, I've heard John Williams, my favorite guitarist only by CD. I have however, heard Eliot Fisk in person who had a profound affect on me. I've also been in the presence of live Flamenco, and some more exotic middle eastern music and dance as well.

I've been in presence of some original Goya's, Picasso's and many other painters and many other artists also.

At times I can even recall the feeling and great difference.

Books

Am I doing critical reading is my question to myself? Do I give-in to the implied authority of an author? Do I maintain my inner authority and ability to probe a subject, to assess if it's adequately covered, if it 'holds water', if it's credible, if there are omissions? Do I realize that my only job is to awaken what is in me alone... that I have all the knowledge within?
