Shalom from Israel! Thanks for your friendship here and sorry it took me so long to respond to you. Been really busy recording a new album and haven't had time for much else.

I know there have been a lot of high expectations of Obama, and some people may have let those expectations get unrealisticaly high, but I still can't help but see striking resemblances between him and both Lincoln and FDR. I know that lots of people are making those same comparisons right now, but history is my life's obsession, and that man just has a way of making the America people believe in themselves again. I can't stop picturing millions of people saying in one voice " Yes We Can!" over and over.

Happy MLK day. Wow! Tomorrow a mixed race first generation american will be the president of the United States. I don't know if you know who Alfred E. Smith was, but I know that tomorrow he and Dr. King will look down from Heaven and finally see the Promised Land.

Native elders meet each year, but for national meeting among all tribes white, yellow, black (blue), red is forming in the great migration as more and more elders walk united, by my side. I like that picture you sent me because it reminds me of a place my dad used to take me when I was a kid. I don't remember if it was in Northern CA or Southern OR. It was right around the state line, in the shadow of Mt Shasta. It's not far from a lava formation that is shaped somewhat like a castle. It's called Cpt. Jack's Stronghold. It's where the Modok warriors fought off the U S Army for a long time. The place near the stronghold that reminds me of your picture, is a big flat erea covered with a thick sheet of lava. When the lava was hot it formed giant bubbles. Over time, some of the hardened bubbles broke open at the top, and inside are left some magnificent caves. Your picture is not of a lava formation, so it's not the same place, but it reminds me of it anyway. Thanks for sending it to me.
