I took my thumb

when I was young

at the age of 18

the day I became 18

I took my backpack

I took what I could I took

what I could carry on my back

I walked out the front door

2 explore life outside

my home

I ventured out

in 2 the world

and experience things

I yearned 2 see

I lived upon the land

like all the other free spirits

did during that time

i hitched a ride

from a small town in

Virginia

2 the college town of Gainesville Florida

I sold my wild flowers on the corner streets

as others walk 2 work each day

they were so generous

they were so kind

they gave me money

as I gave them a flower

or a necklace

I had made in exchange

4 times was different back then

in the early 70’s

there was no fear inside of me

2 hitch a ride

and explore

the unknown world

out there

I am grateful

and thankful 4 those times

4 I so enjoyed living on the land

with other free sprirts

who like me

did not

need

2 live in a house

but enjoy living in a tree

or living on the land

at times

I

wish

those times

were now

but

then

I realize

that those times

were meant 2 be

and these times are our destiny

4 in my heart

and in my

mind

I still remain

yearning 2 just live on the land

as I plan on doing just that

one day soon

when

the time is

right

I will write

about my new journey

living on the land

once again

4 now

I am

grateful

and thankful

2 be living in a house

near the ocean

with my

wonderful

husband Dave

and my bunny Juneau

as I dream

of days

ahead

as

I

type

away and dream

about these days and dreams

yet 2 become a reality

4 I am on a

mission

2

start

my school

and 4 now I will just

create – meditate – and relate

2 the issues – at state

as I move on

4

goodness sakes

in 2 a world of whirling

world peace

humanity

and

2 just let it be

as I continue 2 write

continue 2 share

a little

of

me

with

the world

grateful and thankful

4 what I have- 4 I have so much

when others have so little

it makes me sad

at times

power

2 the people
