Obtaining Healthcare, "Personal Responsibility?" What does the Bible say?

Obtaining Healthcare is “Personal Responsibility.” Christians should avoid

reforming our healthcare.  What does the bible say? John “Hai” Knapp.

As an activist and songwriter for affordable healthcare I will be the first to agree that there is a personal responsibility with it; but, there is also a community responsibility
and a moral imperative to make sure
this “personal responsibility” can be met.
Making it a “personal responsibility” to obtain healthcare while knowing
that millions can’t be responsible because the job aren’t available to let
people obtain them is terribly irresponsible and not being Christian.

Let’s see what the bible does say: Whoever shuts his ears to the cry of the poor will also cry himself and not be heard. Proverbs 21:13 NKJV. “I don’t want to pay for your healthcare!!” Don’t expect to be heard when
it is you in need.

As for my focus on the “I don’t want to pay for your healthcare” which I see as incredibly selfish; I don’t advocate staying poor to parasite the rich. It would not be my right to stay poor (if it can be helped)
so you have to support me. I am for a conversion to a single-payer, like
HR-676; and I hope I make more than you do so I’m stuck paying more taxes into
the system than you do. Okay, I’m exaggerating; but I would see having to pay
more taxes into the healthcare because I make more than you do a small price to
make sure my (and your) insurance stays in force even though the job system
don’t keep on working. It would be illegal
if I would cheat on my taxes to pass my cost onto you.

I see one type of person having the right to declare “I DON’T WANT TO PAY FOR YOUR HEALTHCARE!” That is, the person who is unable to provide health insurance for himself, yet has to pay for a Medicaid recipient
to be on Medicaid. If we had something like Medicaid for everybody “Medicare
for ALL” that would solve this inequality.

Our current bad economy is in such bad shape because of our world’s most expensive healthcare; placing American production at a competitive disadvantage with the rest of the world. As one that did suffer a job loss, and
terrible luck finding another living wage / benefits bearing job I cannot say
that our so called “world’s best healthcare” was worth it. Furthermore, we do
not have the world’s best healthcare; we are thirty-seventh (37th) from having the
world’s best; according to the World Health Organization (WHO) in Geneva
Switzerland.

The people of the land have used oppressions, committed robbery, and mistreated the poor and needy; and they wrongfully oppressed the stranger. Ezekiel 22:29 NKJV

A rich young ruler came to seek counsel from Jesus during his earthly ministry. Our Lord went over the 10 Commandments with his. The young man said to Him, “All these things I have kept from my youth. What do I still lack?” Jesus said to him, “If you
want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will
have treasure in heaven, and come follow Me.” But when the young man heard that
saying, he went away sorrowful, for he had great possessions.
Matthew
19:20-22 NKJV.

In the next few verses following Matthew 19:22 our Lord went into how hard it is for a rich to be saved. I’m not telling you it is a sin to be rich; as long as you don’t have to sin to obtain your riches.  Even though rich and poor are seen the same
way in God’s sight those who are rich can be a greater blessing to the church
in the financing of the establishment. Our Lord told the rich ruler, “sell what
you have and provide the healthcare to those who cannot afford it themselves.”

Let’s look at the early church: they made sure nobody was wanting. Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that nay of the
things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common. And with
great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus.
And great grace was upon them all. Nor was there anyone among them who lacked;
for all who were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the
proceeds of the things that were sold, and laid the at the apostles feet; and distributed to each as anyone had need.
Acts
4:32-35 NKJV. I have heard from the late Larry Burkett of Christian Financial
Concepts teach that the church is suppose to provide the healthcare for members
who can’t afford it. I see that as an ideal; but I don’t see many churches
capable of doing that. It is not something we can leave undone, either.

I might speak up for people on Welfare and/or SSI. Of course, they are too stinking lazy to work! Right? They just want to parasite off you! Right? GUESS AGAIN!!!
WRONG!!!   Most of them want to
work. Yes, there are lazy people in the world; but, that’s not all charity
recipients. Many would be actively looking for work if they could do it without
risk of losing their medical insurance. The one who would transition from being
on Welfare or Disability into the work force would likely have to drop his/her
Medicare/Medicaid in hope he/she can avoid getting sick until he can get the
insurance benefit at the job kicks in. We punish people for trying to enter the
work force, what a shame.
