You know Katrina, I just can't get Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald's version of Summertime out of my head...And I hope it stays in my head for ever. I figured you would understand.

Hey Katrina, thanks for the messege. I'm writing a book about the history of Philadelphia right now. I keep finding stories of some of the most inspiring people along the way. Each time I come accross an amazing woman I'll tell you her story.

I couldn't help but notice what you said about your heroes. You remind me of my grandmother and my mom. My grandma was a drill instructor in the Marines. My mom was kicked out on the street when she was a teenager, by her rich southern familly, for marching with Dr. King. She never comprimised her beliefs though.
I think I'll share one of my heroes with you. I don't know if you've heard of her, but her name was Lucretia Mott. She founded the Womens' Sufferage Movement. She was one of the most active members of the Underground Rail Road. She was one of the greatest leaders of the Abolition Movement. And she was a mentore to Susan B. Anthony, Elisebeth Cady Stanton, and Harriet Tubman.
I see you're a mother and a student. I know that can keep a person busy, but if you get a little free time, google Lucretia Mott sometime, or even check her out at the library. You won't regret it.
I also see from your picture that you play the trumpet. Cool. I don't play myself, but I've been addicted to Louis Armstrong's trumpet solos since I was a little kid. And there's no sweeter sound in the world to fall asleep to than Miles Davis' Kind of Blue album.
