I'm a musician who lives and breathes reggae music. I play guitar and sing lead, but I'm a drummer above all else. All kinds of hand drums are where my heart is at. It's the universal heartbeat that calls us all together.
I'm originally from Virginia, but my family moved here in 1969. I graduated from Maple Heights High in 1976, and went to work as a mechanic for Firestone in Bedford until 1980 when I joined a local reggae band called I-tal and went on to pursue music full time. In 1984 I formed First Light with several I-tal members and stayed with that group until June of 1998, at which time I formed my current group, The Peace Love Unity Syndicate, more commonly known as Carlos Jones & The PLUS Band. We currently play shows in the Cleveland area and surrounding states, bringing the positive vibrations to people of all ages races and walks of life. I'm married and have two daughters, Rachel(21)and Soraya(19). I enjoy nature, hiking, cycling, rollerblading, basketball, cross country skiing and photography.
I voted for Barack Obama, and am thrilled with him being elected President. I have hope that we can turn this country around and restore our faith in our government. I believe in peace and want all wars to end. We need to aspire to a higher consciousness and realize that we can't keep destroying each other and our planet. That is the message I try to convey through my music. We need peace, love and unity

Hi Carlos,
It's good to see another fellow Virginian on mypeace.tv. I watched your videos, and they are awesome. I live near Richmond, and have people in Bedford area. Let me know if you and your band make it back this way, I would love to come see you play.
AN EARTH DAY EXCERPT - A DOG'S EYE VIEW
Ziggy put his paws over his floppy black ears. He knew what was coming. He knew the Professor was ready to launch into one of his long tirades and he couldn't bear to hear it. It was just too painful for his sensitive ears. He had heard there were places on the earth that were messed up. Word had gotten around. His friends had told him. The birds, who traveled back and forth through the seasons, flying everywhere over water and land, had seen it. Bird told Rabbit. Rabbit had been frightened when he told the gentle deer. And Deer had told Ziggy. Something awful was happening in these places called cities.
The squirrels were gathering more nuts than they needed, afraid there wouldn't be any more trees. Their friends the frogs were disappearing and no one knew why. They needed the frogs! They're the ones who sing to the thunder being. Their song brings on the rain.
Everyone was talking about it. They told Ziggy the problem was his friends, the humans. They were taking up more space than the Great Universal Source had allotted them. Turtle said the humans should learn to slow down and look around. Snake said some of their poisons would wake them up soon enough. Spider said not to worry. The humans had created a web and gotten caught in it. But some of them would see their way out. They could see the light, the weaving of the whole universe. And after all, even flying insects knew to go to the light, didn't they?
