Profile Information:

About Me/Us:
My name is Diane Abeyta......I was honored by receiving the Indian name Dancing Fingers at a Sacred Native American Ceremony here in NW Arkansas in 1990.

I am originally from Albuquerque,New Mexico where,as I grew up,my spirit was filled with Native American Culture, Art & Spirituality. I lived there 26 years & left before the city's population exploded!

I am a musician & an artist & candle maker.Candles draw on our spirit and can be used to give tribute to the dawning light within us all.

I have played sax & piano professionally for 25 yrs in rock, blues, funk & contemporary groups.

There's a special magical event that occurs while playing music. An intensity connects to the emotions of the heart & soul. The listener & the musician are united in a beautiful sphere of sound!

Hello again. I like the new stuff you added. It's pretty cool. Check out my egrit pictures. It took me two weeks of staking out that bird to get those shots. Well, time for me to go for now. Remember, Mr. Magoo is not to be trusted.

Hey what's up? You know I was working on my list of favorite books. I added one that I thought you might be interested in. It's called Call of the Great Spirit. It's an autobiobraphy by a man who is part Indian and part White. He grew up in modern western culture, but thgough a failed suicide attempt and a bunch of extraordinary events goes on to become a shaman named Medicine Grizlybear. Check it out.

Hi Diane. Thank you for letting me know! I really enjoy when other people enjoy my music! I love your site here, and see you play sax! I love the sax....my dad, who is almost 80 & has Parkinsons, still plays jazz sax, clarinet, sings & M.C.'s in about 4 Senior bands! Hope you have a great holiday season & that life is great w/you in Arkansas! xo

You know, after I saw the comment you made on my blog, I got to thinking. I realised that after spending the past 13 years living in the city or on the edge of the city, I had actually forgoten how beautiful the stars were at night. I moved up to the Poconos in september, so now I can look up and see them without the city lights blocking them out. You see, it snowed all day here yesterday, so last night, once it got dark, I went out into the woods. The moon was so full and bright, esepecially with all the light being reflected off the snow, and the stars were amazing! When I was growing up, I used to spend a lot of time durring the summer months in the desert in Arizona and in Oregon. In the desert the night sky will always take your breath away. Thank you. You gave me back the stars. Wado. Ge ga. That means I go. It's how you say goodbye in Cherokee.

I got a cool book the other day. It's called The Gospel of the Toltecs. The author is an Indian from Mexico. He took the beliefs of the traditionalist tribes in his country, and combined them with the serviving Mayan hieroglyphs to make a modern recreation of the writings about the life and teachings of the ancient prophet, Quetzalcoatl. I have read many stories about the Spanish conquistadors who burned every Indian book they could find about him, in thier efforts to erase the memory of Mayan and Aztec religion. It's a pretty cool book. Oh, by the way, I'm writing a book of my own about the history of Philadelphia. I'm writing it with complete disregard for what is important to know about Philly's story, and instead telling only the story of the action. The revolutionary spies, the underground rail road, the Indian warriors, the pirates, the womens' suferagests, the mobsters, the refugees, that kind of thing.

I like that picture you sent me because it reminds me of a place my dad used to take me when I was a kid. I don't remember if it was in Northern CA or Southern OR. It was right around the state line, in the shadow of Mt Shasta. It's not far from a lava formation that is shaped somewhat like a castle. It's called Cpt. Jack's Stronghold. It's where the Modok warriors fought off the U S Army for a long time. The place near the stronghold that reminds me of your picture, is a big flat erea covered with a thick sheet of lava. When the lava was hot it formed giant bubbles. Over time, some of the hardened bubbles broke open at the top, and inside are left some magnificent caves. Your picture is not of a lava formation, so it's not the same place, but it reminds me of it anyway. Thanks for sending it to me.

    Dancing Fingers!
I tried opening your web site but it would not open is it down right now? Is there a national gathering of the elders from different tribes? If so when and where?
    Peace and Love to You!!
  • White Buffalo Calf Woman

    My beloved Dancing Fingers,
My sister, your heart embraces. Thank you...I will talk with Elders and see what is forming. Native elders meet each year, but for national meeting among all tribes white, yellow, black (blue), red is forming in the great migration as more and more elders walk united, by my side. I will get back to you as I inquire. I am so proud of you.
