Answering to jimmsfairytales...
You are right on your words right above about PEACE and NONVIOLENCE.
It is a sort of abstraction all that we actually do. ALL of us are the same.
We get silent when someone else holds the mike.
We do act severelly with children for their own good.
We do raise our voices on discussions and we do tend to not hear our contestor at this moment.
And yes, we do all the sorts of acts you have mentionned, but there is a proposition upon any of those acts of ours.
We do defend the need of changes, and we do that in such a 'un-comprehensible' way of acting because, and only, we all have, inside of us, the sureness of what is right and what is wrong.
We are, dear friend, unable individually to change the world because of our faith.
It has been long enough to have grown inside our deep selfs this uncertain certainty of evil inside the others. We have been taught, since before born in the utherus, that we are a diferent and distinct been, each of us, and we also have the certainty of godness inside ourselves.
This paradoxal thinking - I'm God, or God leaves inside me, and nobody else knows it - is the real reason of our mis-understandings.
I have to me that nobody hurts or causes somebody else pain for the purpose of having fun. I believe the mis-information, the not knowing who we are, where did we come from and why do we have 'earned' our lifes is the main and unique reason for all of our mis-unfortunities.
You are right, thou. I'm a hipocritic human been, but I do care and I do fight with my natural weapons and they are, for sure, comprehension, louder of voices, angry upon disapointments and all that you condemn blaming as causes of violence. I'm not violent. I'm violated and complaining about it.
No, they are not causes. They are not even consequences, but overflows of lucidity inconsciouslly coming out of our diferent beens, inconsciouslly seeking for love and share between ourselves.
The cause, I repeat, for me, is the complete ignorance up on humanity about its origens and purposes.
Jesus, a very good fellow as stories tell us also got angry and slapted vendors at the door of a temple. He re-act over what He considered above comprehension.
Re-action will never be cause for an earlier action, my friend.
What we need to do is to spread the truth about ourselves, but always having in mind that you can not spread what you do not have.
How many God's are there in nature?
I know He is only one, and I know humankind worship a lot of them.
This is the pointed finger: religions destroy fraternity by saying:
those who believe in this or that are safe, and legitimes sons of God. Not the others.
Welll... there is no fraternity upon these sayings and without fraternity we will not get peace and violence still will prosper.
This is how I see it.

When most people hear the words "Peace" and "Nonviolence", they think - on the one hand - "That's for politicians and diplomats. Boring negotiating sessions and speeches in the UN..." and - on the other hand - "A bunch of hippy do-gooders going on marches that don't do ANYBODY any good. A WASTE of time! I've got better things to do..."

When WE - those of us who are more interested in the idea - hear the words "Peace" and "Nonviolence", don't WE think about WORLD Peace and GLOBAL Nonviolence? And isn't it easy to deal with in the abstract?

And yet, Peace and Nonviolence go much deeper... and affect ALL of us:
Are you a parent who slaps a child who misbehaves "for her own good..."?
Do you raise your voice in discussions, so that shier people tend not to contribute?
Are you one of those shy people who doesn't share your points of view, because somebody else is "hogging the mike"?
Do you hear shouting and banging in the flat upstairs, but tell yourself that "it's none of my business"?

Do you eat meat - or eggs or dairy products - that come from animal FACTORIES where the animals have been tortured for the whole of their lives?
Do you meekly pay your taxes without DEMANDING that they not be used to further Injustice?
Do you keep quiet about your state's (or country's) policy on capital punishment? ("Well, it's only those who are violent themselves who are being killed...")
Do you maintain a sexist dominance in your relationship(s) even WITHOUT overt violence?

Peace like everything else is relative. It has various degree of depth. The depth of your peace shows up in accordance to your spiritual level.
To a person who live in poverty, peace means knowing that there will always be food and shelter.
To a person who is wealthy, peace can mean having harmony and health in life.
To a person who is engulfed with emotional turmoil, peace means to have a mind free from suffering.
To a person who is trapped in prison, peace means to be set free.
Peace is a form of liberation.
Some people only find that when they are at death bed. Some never in his/her lifetime.
That liberation comes when we have that deep connection with that oneness (or God, The Divine or Higher power,etc).
For those highly enlighten beings, that connection is constant, deep and unfailing. It is that, that give them that immense spiritual power to withstand all suffering, be it imprisonment, torture or living in absolute hard conditions. It is that connection that bring forth that enormous level of unconditional love which give birth to that unsurpassed level of forgiveness, compassion, tolerance, wisdom, etc. which is the very embodiment of a highly enlightened being. Jesus at the point of his death, prayed “God forgive them, for they know not what they are doing. (Whether it is Jesus or Buddha or Bahá’u’lláh, etc, they have the same embodiment)
That is ULTIMATE PEACE. The closer we get to that level of peace individually and globally, the closer Peace on Earth will prevail. I strongly believe it is very POSSIBLE.
Immerse your mind in seeking that liberation, it is the seed to World Peace.

I totally agree with Preciouse Lotus about the levels of peace states and am sure that this IS time for us - people who realise our mission to awaken people's consciousness - to cooperate by all means and out together our energies of lunconditional love and inner peace comboned with activity

Thanks for the invitation to join this group!
I will be in Spain at the time the march gets there, and I've just (since finding out about this from you, a few minutes ago) got in contact with the Spanish coordinator to offer my services.

Could those of you who live in or near a city that will be a stop-over (with activities) for the official group please ask your (like-minded) friends and neighbours to act as hosts to them? If you can offer them a place to sleep, that would save them paying hotel bills (and we ALL know that the money could find better use!) And you'll have the chance to meet some wonderful - if tired - people from around the World!

And don't forget that local groups will be coordinating their own events, so offering a place to sleep to those who have come (or are passing through) on a local day's (or week's...) march but aren't part of the official team would be a GREAT help.

For example, in Spain, one of the featured cities is Barcelona. I propose to walk about 150km to get there from the mountains where I'll be visiting. That will take a few days. I COULD (and may have to) take a tent. But it would be nicer if peacemakers along the way invited me to stay the night.

All countries with a stop-over (and some without) have official coordinators (contact via the web-site in the information above). And in the USA that goes for states.

Last word: Don't wait for somebody else to come up with a good idea. Plan something yourself for your local community (no matter how far it is off the official route) and contact the nearest coordinator to publicise your event. You might find hundreds of people showing up at your party. (SORRY!, didn't mean to put you off the idea. But that reminds me that it might be a good idea to announce: "Bring your own food and drink!")
