In addition to the US Department of Peace, which Kimberly mentioned a couple of weeks ago, there is an idea in the finals called "US Leadership to Abolish Nuclear Weapons."

I hope that you'll take a moment to vote for this idea - President-elect Obama has stated his general support for the idea of a world free of nuclear weapons, so it is important that we send him a message that this is something we want, and something we expect him to do.

Thank you for the great resource Kimberly, I don't have anything to offer at this point except to become a part of the collective ripple in the universe for peace.

My parents were missionaries in Ghana, West Africa when I was a child ('58-'60). Later, as a single mother I endured the culture shock of Public Assistance. Plus, we live in Ohio's Appalachian region and, due to disabilities, we still get some Public Assistance. When my kids were young I did full-time volunteer work with Legal Aid, and, was a board member for several social service agencies and client organizations - on local, regional, state, & multi-state levels. Therefore, I have been an avid advocate against poverty -- at home and abroad -- nearly my whole life. I care about many social issues, yet list peace & poverty as my top two!!

Center for Nonviolent Communication (CNVC) is dedicated to the sharing of Marshall Rosenberg's language of the heart. There are centers in over 40 countries. The teachings of NVC are fairly simple, and yet are not so easy to learn. NVC is a language, with it's own cultural assumptions attached... assumptions that lead to harmonious and respectful interactions and decisions. Google and Wikipedia will tell you more. I only ask that you vote to make this language a top priority of the new administration - A Compassionate Culture? Nation wide? YES!
It takes about three minutes of your time -

The World Flag was created in 1988 to raise global awareness, inspire innovative solutions and promote action toward challenges facing our world today. It serves as a powerful symbol to inspire action and celebrate the pursuit of positive change. The Flag has flown from New York to Nepal and continues to make its way around the planet spreading its message of unity.

I have started a blog/ web site for educators and parents . My intention in creating the site is to create a forum, an avenue, a meeting hall, for educators and parents to meet, discuss, and share inspiration and information regarding education. It is just the beginning and I invite you to visit:

This is whats right!!! We all have tools, books, connections and messages to share with eacother so we can grow and become more powerful than the war machine. If we are to have a chance against the well oiled war machine we must arm ourselves with knowledge and Unite as One People.
