Dear President,
My name is Konimba Diarra and I am from Mali, West Africa. I am a resident of South Carolina and have lived in the USA for 10 years. My mother and 7 siblings still live in Mali. I am sure you have heard about the current political and economic devastation in Mali. The Touareg rebels, who are said to be connected to both Al’ Qaida and Kaddafi, are attempting to take over the country. They are well armed and have taken control of a number of northern cities and are headed south. They have caused tens of thousands to leave their homes and lands in order seek refuge in neighboring countries. They have also killed westerners and many Malian militaries and civilians. I have 2 brothers who left my home town of Mopti to seek better education, one in Kidal and other in Douentza. Both cities are now under rebel control. Western countries have placed embargo on Mali. Nobody can flee to safer areas, no money or aide can be accessed from foreign agencies. Food is running out, one of my brothers has not eaten in days. We cannot get any money to them. People are in fear as they wait for the rebels next target. I do not know the solution but know that Mali needs help desperately.
Please Dear President helps my country.
Sincerely,
Konimba Diarra
