Rachel's Song - a Poem Tribute To Rachel Corrie

Rachel Corrie was a young woman who was concerned about World Peace and was opposed to Injustice.
As a result of this, she volunteered with the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) and went to Rafah, Gaza (Palestine). There she stayed with Palestinian families (thus protecting their homes from being shot at "just for a laugh" by high-spirited Israeli adolescents dressed in their Army uniforms) and witnessed their daily lives.
With her e-mails to her family and friends in Olympia, Washington State (USA), she tried to raise US consciousness of what was going on.
While facing down an Israeli Army bulldozer (which was aimed at destroying a Palestinian home to 2 families), she was run over by that bulldozer, sustained a broken back and internal injuries, and died soon afterwards in hospital.

She has become a real inspiration to me. In fact, she is my literary muse.
