Hey everyone-

I think we all know the power of media and its influence on our thoughts, beliefs, and ways of living. I see many people working hard in different areas to contribute to the peaceful and conscious shift of our awareness. How do you think we could all join together and have a greater impact on the media? the news? the television? I feel once we open up a certain outlet- it could spread REALLY fast. Any ideas? If we all focus and ask these questions to ourselves, maybe our imaginations will collectively bring us to receive the right answers.

How do you think we could all join together and have a greater impact on the media?

The media does gear their info to what gets ratings....

Why do you think we are soooo attracted to the bad things still? Why do bad things get the best ratings?

What needs to be done so that the conscious movement is what gets the ratings!? Marketing Peace

Hi, Kimberly!
it's true that the Media is going to push those items that pull in the viewers. Police shootings and the latest escapades of Paris Hilton attract more viewers than an isolated Hug-In For Peace.
That's ONE reason why I'm so excited by the concept of The World March (for links, see points g and j in my over-long comment 2 or 3 items back on this thread).
If I put together a circus for Peace that no more than 300 people will see in 6 different villages, that's NOT going to make the News.
But if I am one of hundreds of thousands of people all over the World, each of whom is doing some small thing, but calling it part of a greater whole, that whole IS going to make the News. BIG TIME.

Don't LET them ignore us.
They've had THEIR way long enough... and look where it's got us!

When I see the police shootings on the news I feel like willing to talk, and feel angry. When I see Paris Hilton or Madonna doing something different, human doings, and media pursuiting them, I feel like a child told of a funny other child: that means, willing to do what they did (it comes to my imagination incousnciently).
In the interactive media, people, when watching other people falling, slipping or getting bizarre troubles on real life do laugh and by laughing they feel good and then they rate what they've seen as good stuff. Not because it is good, but because it allowed him/her to experience a short happiness, maybe for not had happened to them. So, bad things happened to others do attract our attention and pushes us to comment or rate what we have seen.
In order to attract people to rate and enjoy good things a video should show contrasts, inhance them, and appeal to the cause that made it change from bad to good. How to do that without showing the bad things?
They, the bad things, are already on our minds brought and loaded in the past and from the past. The video should be able to rescue the bad from our minds and show the good things, present and desirable in the future, in the screen. In that way we will offer to the watchers a question hinting to them that the evil came from their minds, already existing and as showed (hinted) in the proposition, needed to end.

Marshall Rosenberg, founder of the Non-Violent Communication movement, has said that he'd like to find a way to make some sort of reality TV out of the peacemaking workshops he moderates. He's seen families and tribes who have killed each other's children make peace through communicating from the heart.

People have so many relationship problems. We would probably all tune in to see how people with more difficult situations work it out, so we could learn to do it in our own lives. It's all about the examples we see on a regular basis.
So, I cast my vote for peacemaking reality TV.

Somebody call Marshall Rosenberg, please!

I think...
1. At first we can do this discussion as a brainstorming session... all ideas - we just put them here together.

2. After that, we make a sorted list of ideas from "the chaos on the whiteboard" :)

3. I suggest that Every One of us will have a look at the sorted list and we will meditate on the WHOLE.

4. I suggest that anzone who will have got some insight or holistic vision - just write it is a reply under the sorted list of ideas as shortly and simply as possible.

........... I imagine the looooooooooooooooong list of all ideas trying to make sense of it ALL .............

And my only insight is: Make it into a serie of "peace video collaaaage" out of it, using all our art in there and spoken ideas + KEY-samples from inspiring short-films (like The Peace-School in Jerusalem !!) video-clips in it. Making every video 2 and HALF minutes long maximally.

Miss Mina or anyone who wants to voice their opinion on the subject, what do you think about watching true negative stories. For example, news stories about people being murdered, raped, ect. I very rarely watch the news because when I do, although I love to hear about the good things happening, the negative stories really get me down. It is as though I feel their pain (I'm sure not to the extent that they do), but it makes me extremely sad. The same happens when I see the earth being treated badly, it really hurts. But I don't think I would have gotten to this point of environmental awareness without seeing what is being done to the earth. My Mom said, "well not watching doesn't stop it from happening." But it does prevent the bad feeling I get when I do watch. I realize I have to accept what is. The same happens when I talk to my Dad when he is very negative. I worry about him so much. It is as though I absorb the negative energy coming from him, and I really let it get me down. A friend tells me everything and everyone is as it should be. Maybe the more I practice acceptance and stillness, the easier and less painful it will become. What are your thoughts? Do you think someone who the negative news stories affect them like that should not watch them? or somehow work on how they feel about them?

Hi Bobbi,

I think it is important to practice remaining peaceful and centered in the midst of all that is going on around you (instead of reacting to it). Also, I think its good to limit watching these negative stories- however, by hearing them once and a while- i feel it reminds us how important it is to work on ourselves to make a difference and be better people. i feel that by watching these types of stories, instead of looking at how bad the earth is or how bad other people are- it is a way to reflect on ourselves and see the vast opportunity we have to brighten our light... and knowing that if we continue to work on ourselves (and if other people do the same) - we are working towards our goal of peace and will begin to see changes. Considering the concept, "we are one" -we all consciously contribute to the whole- and therefore every part of every experience is a part of ourselves. So sometimes i look at these bad experiences and say, "wow, thats not me, but that's a part of me and I contributed to it...wow- better pay a little more attention to whats important, and pray more, be mroe conscious, be more centered and peaceful, be more kind, etc...." because reality is a feedback mechanism. those are our results. this is our product. so, if we are not completely satisfied with our product (the WHOLE product) then changing what is inside will change what is outside. we cant fight reality. we can only use it like a grade on test score and try again.

I suggest reading up on the Work of Byron Katie- for accepting things the way they are- One book- "a thousand names for joy" will just about completely cover this topic. also- eckhardt tolle's A NEW EARTH

id also like to add that we are not responsible for anyone else's feelings...and they are not responsible for yours. we are all responsible for ourselves only.
and knowing this, how will that change the way you react to other people's actions? knowing that your feelings will affect the whole again and again

Hi Bobby,

I completely understand where you are coming from and how you feel. I cannot watch those type of news stories (Dateline, 20/20, murder investigation, and anything negative/ graphic/ brutal, whether it is images or just words), and whether they are true or from a movie. It deeply has an effect on me. I usually end up having a bad dream at night (after witnessing / watching something like this). And notice my fear level rise, checking the doors, being more paranoid, etc.

I think it has a negative effect on all people, some are just more "in-tune" and more sensitive to the material. You are probably what Dr. Judith Orloff calls an "Intuitive Empath", someone who is very sensitive to other people's energy/ sensitive to noise/ images/ etc. We basically "soak them up like a sponge", which means, we really do feel their pain and it latches on to our energy field.

We know how strong the mind/ body connection is, therefore if it is greatly disturbing to your mind, it is disturbing your body and your soul.

I would recommend not watching this type of media. (see my last comment on what Tolle says about this type of programming). If that is not reason enough, I don't know what is?

And for those people who say like your mom does..... well, we know it is happening, by watching it and repeating the story over and over again, it is only creating more of it. And if someone in your life is negative and it deeply effects you, then you should limit your time with them. Even if it is a "family member".

I too get down on the environmental issues, there is nothing I love more than "Mother Earth", but in the meantime, I feel deep down in my heart, that there is a "Universal Plan" and that "Everything happens for a Reason and is Unfolding as it Should" ---(at least, I STRONGLY hope so ♥)

I'd like to conclude with a prayer.

Dear Great Spirit,

Please guide us on the correct path for all Humanity. Let there be a Good Reason for all of this planetary turmoil. Please let Peace Prevail and Let it be Soon. May All beings live In-Spirit and Let the Light of Love
shine on our Entire Universe.
